Has anyone seen/had a night train derby cover engraved? is it aluminum or will it rust where its been engraved? Probably a dumb question, but I can't find a black maltese cross cover/set that would go with my theme on my bike and I was hoping I could take it off and have it engraved, let the metal shine through.

Check out Extreme Custom Engraving. I got my air cleaner cover and had a custom engraved primary inspection cover made by them. They have lots of Maltese cross stuff.
