Crossbones Rear Wheel

Crossbones Rear Wheel
So I want some new fat spoke wheels but do not want any modifications. Ride Wright does not list a 17" so what to do. Can I go to an 18" without changing anything...and if so, should I go with an 18" up front, do not want to lose the fender...I don't think! Saw a BA bike on here from Milty and I think he has made the same changes to the rear....any help is appreciated. This stuff is confusing!

You can get an 18x5.5 rim. It will bolt on. The only thing to check for clearances is the wiring under the fender as the wheel is 1" taller in diameter although it has a lower profile sidewall so this will really not be an issue. The wheel is narrower so there will not be clearance issues.
Realize that the 200 tire will not be stretched quite as wide as it is on the 6" wide rear rim. The height should be close to the same. It depends on which tire you run. Get the Metzeler 200/50/18 as it seems to be the lowest profile tire in that size.

Measure the over radius from the axle to the fender. The 18" will be 1/2in taller from the axle, not 1in. A lower profile tire in the front on an 18in wheel might have the same or similar radius. That's what is going to matter.
I'm sitting by my bike, I'll measure right now.
It's 13 inches to the fender and I have at least an inch of clearance. You only need 1/2in of clearance to be safe. What I don't know is the diameter of an 18" tire.
