Test Rode a Couple of Touring Bikes -- Glad I Have A Heritage!

choices
I went from a Road Glide to a Fatboy Lo. Previous to the RG I've had two Electra Glides, a Heritage Classic, and an FXWG. The Fatboy is the best for me. Living in a small town I am stuck with the peope that bought my old bikes coming to me for advice or help with said bikes. I unfortunatly was working on my old 84 EG Classic that I had put a 4 5/8 storker in and took it for a ride after a new battery and clutch adj. The counter balancers in our softails definatly take the snappiness out of the engine. Any bike I owned for more than a year had engine work done but that 84EG with the 89 was the best with Hemi Heads, Red Shift cam, Axtell jugs, Woods carb. Wish I hadn't of rode it now. Still like the FB best but sure wish the motor ran like the old 89.

I am fortunate enough to have both. I do agree, the softail can be as good of a ride as the touring line, but some of the creatue comforts, like music, were one of my driving forces in getting a fairing bike. I was sick of wearing earbuds if I wanted tunes. Plus, it lets me do what I really wanted to with the Crossbones, because I don't need to keep it set up for 2 up...
