Default Poor house here I come!

After looking at so many fat spokes I am going to order them. (already got shaved deluxe front fender just got to wet sand and buff) I have an 01 fatboy. Before I purchase them I have a couple question (yes I did look thru other threads):

I know I want 21x3.5 up front.

1. If I run the 21 up front should I go 16x3.5 or 18.3.5 rear (it will be a while before I can lower the bike). How will the choice affect the ride??

2. Tires. I know you have to get the 21 WW made by DB if you run 120/70 21. Is this true for the 18? Also how much smaller is this MH90/21? Here is the link http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Prod...335-13387.aspx

Sorry to ramble but want it look good, run good and be able to waite a while before lowering it.

Thanks..

To me rear size depends on if you want a big white wall with a stock tire or do you want to spend the money on a custom rear tire with a smaller white wall cause of the rim size, I went with the rear 16 cause I like the old school look of the bigger white wall on the rear

16 but I always talk up the 16's. I think the bike was made for 16's and looks it's best with 16's on it. In fact, I prefer the 16's up fron too! Why not stick with 16's and get the fat spoke wheels? Just curious is all.

Default Fat Spokes

I do like the 16 but also really like the 21...have heard several say they wish they had done the 21 after getting the 16.

I don't think it affected my ride at all, and for a cheap route buy the softtail lowering kit.com kit and atleast get the rear lowered for under a 100 bucks

Seems like a lot of people on her have had a good experience with KC-Int...wheels will be DNA.

I am not sure about some of the other issues.

Buying from KCint is a very good decision. From what I have heard DB has gone up on the price of the tires. You can get a 120/70/21 from a couple of places for about $370.00 and no they are not Vee tires.
Here is a Metz 880 ww for $369.00 shipped.

The 120/70 21 is the proper tire for the front. Stretching the MH90/21 will flatten the tire, and you may have wear issues and the bike will not "turn-in" easy cause the tire is more flat than rounded in regard to the profile. Having Tab at DB make one is your best bet - about $325, pre-shipping.

The rear, if you run an 18 will need a custom whitewall as well. I'm not aware of any company that is making a 18 WW.

FWIW, on the Fatboy, I think you would be good to go with blackwall tires. Then you can bump to the 18/21 with no additional tire costs.

On my set up, I went with 16/21, because having a custom made from tire is expensive enough. At least it should last 15k miles.
