An easy fix for the flappy strap is to get some small velcro squares and attach them under the strap to the plastic buckle. I did it on my 2003 springer bags and keeps them from flapping.....
Yes. Regardless of what the "real biker" says above, they work well and make a big difference in the looks...
Assuming this means me (cuz I am a real biker =), don't get me wrong. I didn't say I was against these kits or making the bags look good (depending on what you think looks good). The reason I found this thread is I searched for sagging bags. One of my '06 bags was dimpled at the rear seam from the very beginning. Hasn't bothered me too much so far. But, recently I've thought of either getting a stiffener kit or treating the bags to make them more flexible altogether. Everyone's comments about GBS have been helpful, if I choose to go that way. I DO find the talk about "curing" flapping straps humorous, however. Sorry, I just can't help it.
On my '09 Heritage, will I need to do this upgrade, or has Harley fixed it for newer models? Also, how often are you guys applying the dressing on the leather?
Ordered my GSB kit. My 08 is sagging pretty good. I guess living in the Pacific NW (Seattle) isn't helping them much. I've been caught in the rain more than once, but my bike is always garaged but the humidity of the NW & generally speaking ALL of the rain we see is killin them. Hopefully the GSB kit cures my sagging & warpage.
