My hands did the same **** for awhile...but eventually u dnt really notice it..i rode 253 miles today and the sun hurt me more than the bars lol

 

Well I tried pulling them back a little they where gangstered out (forward) and well they still sucked!! LoL I will post some pics from my computer we all know your phone can't post pics!

 

I run mine in line with the forks and they are shoulder high.
Bill made them the same width as the stock bars since I liked that about the stock bars.

They allow me to sit up straight instead of slightly reaching forward for the stock bars. Easier on my back and comfortable for me.
I lean more to turn and need less bar input than the stock bars required.

 

Mine are wild 2 Chubbys they are 38 inches wide

 

I have 16's.. Pushed forward...
Took some time to get used to..
My back is at a better angle with them forward, than leaning back...

And what's with the idea that if your hands are above your heart???
I know it's a bigger artery and all... But I tend to 99.9999% of the time, keep my head above my heart ???

 

My guess is that you have a "death grip" on the grips. Your wrists will be sore and your hands will go numb. It's not the apes (assuming they aren't outrageously high), it's your grip on the apes. I see lots of mountain bikers with the same problems (obviously no apes) due to the "death grip". You have to hold the grip as if your holding a bird, too tight you kill the bird (death grip), too lose the bird flies away. Just my 2 cents. SJ Ron

 

Yup. White knuckling, wrist angle, and if your arms are locked at the elbow will all cause your hands to go numb. If somebody also has poor circulation, that might be a factor also. Personal preference - personally, I can't ride without apes.

If you tried 'em and don't like 'em and feel like you left 'em on long enough to make a decision, well, not much else you can do.

 

No its not the death grip..I have ridden dirt bikes for 20 years and learned not to white knuckle the grips. I have a bad back to start with and my guess is I have a piched nerve in my shoulder that causes my right hand to go numb when its lifted in the ridding position. Could be wrong but I can't ride that way any longer...

 

Gotta say to each his own i hope your new bars are the cure
