The black shock really pull it all together looks like its meant to be there!
Hey pops lets see what frankenstein shield you come up with ,never know might be a hit and everyone will be looking for used windshields, this is how these things are born after all lol

Hey Joe I got the Windvest mounted. Here are some pics of the weird

[quote=av8or;9713294]I actually took it out on the interstate and it works as well as the 11"
I had on a bike a few years back. I probably should have mounted it
an inch or so higher but I'm totally satisfied since I didn't have anything
on it before.

I have the HD quick Detach,
It is Amazing quiet under 60M/H, but anywhere above that, there is a nasty wind draft coming from down (near my knees) hitting straight to my ears, causing terrible noise and buffeting.
Due to my Signals relocation I can not use the lowers on the Wide Glide.
I am still in search of a solution that does not include a new mount kit/brand.
Height is very good actually it goes just under my nose so I can see through it, and it also depends on which seat I am using.

[QUOTE=oct1949;9711793]Since U didn't post what U have I have no Idea either.
I suppose U own a softail of some kind since U posted here in the Softail section, but I have no Idea of what bike it si or what Yr it is.
So what shield is it that Ur talking about???
In case U didn't know it, ON most buffering issues it comes from the bottom not the top or over the top of the shield.
Ya Oct1949 its a 99 softail with some rake and 4"over tubes...
The shield came with the bike when I bought it so doe no what make ?
Didn't know it could be comming from the bottom of the shield though, thanks .
Pops I think that is awesome! Clean and love the hardware!
Hi Streeteagle, lexan is the way to go and I like the way if fits around your light ! Would be good a little smaller in a smoke for me do they make that,is the manufacture "Clearview" ?
I bought rear view mirrors with led signals in them to get away from the signal issues, bright and looks cool!
Thanks all

Can you get the particulars to the mounts and windshield you used on this bike? I have a fxst and dont want the regular cookie cutter type of windshiled. I see this post is old but please forward me any info you may have for the winshield you have on ya bike. this is to NightTrainBM in particular

Old post I know. But still valid.
Through experimentation, I ended up with this on my Deluxe. The bike came with a 20" Nostalgia QR windshield. I didn't like looking through it. I bought a 16" recurve from LRS. The helmet buffeting was so bad I couldn't use it. I bought an 18" recurve from LRS that was much better, but the buffeting was still there.
Since the shipping was more than my 16" was worth to try to sell it off, I figured I had nothing to lose to cut it.
I first cut it to 10" above the headlight. Better, but not good enough. I then cut 2" off the sides and reduced the height further to 7". Almost there. I then cut it to 6".
Not much of a windshield now. More like a fly screen. BUT.......
Helmet buffeting is nearly zero as it puts my head in clean air. The shield that is left takes enough of the wind pressure off my mid section to where I don't feel I'm getting blown off the bike. AND I have a clear view along with it. This may not work for everyone as areodynamics are a funny thing. The point is to encourage experimentation. A lot of times you can get the plastic part used or reclaim a damaged shield which makes it fairly easy to take a saw to it.
