I'm not sure where some ofyou guys have been the last couple of years, but the EPA regulations for motorcycles are pretty much setthrough 2010 The newregulations began to take effect the first of 2006. By 2010, all 50 states will be in compliance with California's emission standards. And for those of you not paying attention a few years ago, the governmentnot only saw fit tostick it to us, they decided the pain wasn't significant enough, and went ahead and broke it off. Here is a short synopsis of thebill. You can search and find the bill in it's entirety, but this is alayman's version. The section concerning custom bikes, will come as a real surprise to those of you not familar with the bill..

I think for 2008 changes will be minor but I think one of them will be more models with internally wired handle bars like the 07 Fatboys, I could see them doing the rest of the softail line and maybe the touring line with that for next year.

Hi FXST,
you have a very nice ride there. I hope they don't change too much for 08 but the EPA and other Government restrictions will make some changes. I have a 07 FXST with chrome kitand have ordered PC111, V&H straight shots(make for Harley sound)and SE air cleaner. Will be very peed off if they bring that out as standard in 08 with a price reduction!!!!!

I heard from a dealer that they may start emissions testing in 2008. Any mods to your scoot will have to be changed back to stock. But the world was supposed to end a few years ago, so I don't believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. That was my Grandpappy's advice 40 years ago. Ride safe everyone. Jr.

I heard they were gonna mount a latte machine to the handlebars on select models.

Do you think there will be any changes for the '08 model HDs. Then again what else could they do?

Does comment from a dealer count as a prediction? When i was ordering my 07 Deuce the dealer made me aware they expected some styling changes for the 08 Deuce. Considering the changes across the rest of the softail range for 07 (new engine and transmission) i took the view the only thing left would be the rear wheel... and i figured they'd bump it up to 200mm at best - well i was close.

I had an Australian dealer confirm the 2008 Deuce will have as stock a 240mm rear.

Would love to see a FLSTCSE come out.
That would be nice.

As for changes I would like to see a v-rod tour bike that can compete with the metrics.

i gotta tell ya, i find it very ironic that they keep making the harley motor's bigger and bigger, but they gotta be quieter and quieter....just dont make no sense to meseems like quite acontradiction
It makes sense. As long as the politicians feel they should be able to vote themselves into engineers, the only way to keep make any decent power after they've screwed things up is with more cubic inches.
