Default Which cam is right??

Need help. Own an '02 Heritage Classic, stock 88", stock exhaust. 40K miles. Looking to keep the girl for at least two more years. Lots of Hwy solo driving coming up. Need to replace tensioners. Looking at going to hydraulic lifters. now if you were going to change cams(looking for HWY passing pwr), need advice. Anything else I should replace...tappets?

This is easy Andrews 21. Great cam tons of power in my softail now. I went up against my buddy's bike with a andews 26 and won. I would do Andrews 21 or 26. And I vote 21

If you want good advice from a shop that does a lot of bikes that are riden like you want to do call AMS, they will tell you the real world facts with no pressure to buy anything. By the way I agree wth the Andrews 21 or 26.

21's. Its very easy to over cam an 88". Other option would be 203's. 26's or 204's if you plan on a 95" kit.

Replace inner cam bearings, lifters, maybe prods or just use adjustable prods. Check rocker play if you pull the rocker covers.

Carb or efi?

Thanks much for the input. It is EFI. Does that change anyone's opinion?

EFI demands a tuner, Power Commander III or SE and a SE intake.

http://www.bigboyzheadporting.com/tccams.htm lets you compare cam specs.

IMO the SE 203 is just to close to stock. The Andrews 21 and 26 are an improvement, but the SE 204 is best for an otherwise stock 88.

I have a 2:1 exhaust with a SE intake, K&N filter, SE 204 cams and PC III dyno tuned to 80+ tq just off idle thru 5000 and 82 hp at 5250. Very happy with it.

Love the 26h's in our 07, 96'er, also thing the 21 or 26's, the 21 have a little more lift but their intakes closes a little earlier.

Agree the 204 are good,, but as far as saying their the best,,???? on that.

For solo U can also look into some And 37's

Look through here to see the diff grinds on most cams.

http://www.bigboyzcycles.com/tccams.htm

And its been posted in here lately,, make sure U install the roller chain on both front and rear when and if U go to the new HYD tensioners system.

READ through this thread.
