Default Pulling the Trigger On the 21" Wheel, Tube or Not?

Okay, after two years of deliberation I'm buying a 21" DNA Mammoth for the fatty. My current Mammoth's are tubless and have never leaked, but should I run a tube on the 21"er?

No tube here with nearly 2,000 miles and she's still holding air at 42 lbs. I vote no tube.

BTW congrats!

We don't sell spoke wheels without a tube for a reason. Eventually they all start to leak. At lest that is our experience.

I'd say be safe than sorry and run tubes!! Especially on the front, I run tubes in both.... Just my IMO!! Hey, btw, what did you decide to do about the Carlini's?? Did you go with 14's or 16's??

What happened since last week?

I don't have tubes and they've been fine so far. Only a month or so in though.

And if it helps you sleep at night put a tube in

I'm sticking with the Wild1s for now. The new wheel will require a new tire, new fender and paint to match, so I gotta take it one step at a time. I may also have Fireman1501 smooth and stretch my rear fender since I'm painting the front anyway. The nacelle will have to wait too, but I have a clear vision of where I want to take this thing.

What convinced me not to when I first installed them was after talking with a couple folks who had ran them for nearly two years without any issues.

The inner wheel band (probably not what it's called) appeared to be much better than what I remember seeing years ago on other wheels which back then appeared to be a flat rubber band. The ones on my DNAs seemed a lot heavier and built to seal the wheel as intended.

If all spoke wheels eventually leak why would they use them without tubes or not recommend their use? Seems it'd be quite a liability. Not so sure I'm convinced they're needed.
