Buffeting on Heritage is now GONE
At highway speeds for extended periods, I find the helmet shake from wind buffeting distracting on my Heritage, especially since it affects my vision -- not a good thing on the Interstate. I read a few threads about the HD Wind Deflectors (fork mounted) on this forum and installed a pair today. The bottom line is that they work great and I highly recommend them. They don't look too bad, either. It's incredible how a $70 part can make such an improvement.
The Part Number is 58125-90B.

I just put a set of HD 'Fangs' on my Heriatge this morning,, I got them at a great price from a member on here..Thanks again Karen!..
They made a huge difference today in 54 degree weather ,,buffeting was gone and I actually like the way they look. So does my co-pilot--wife.
I read much about them on the older threads on here before purchasing and glad I did.
Enjoy your 'fangs' !

Interesting... I get no buffeting at all, at any speed. No helmet shake, nothing. All I got is the stock windshield... Guess I'm just lucky. I tend to slouch a bit when I ride (ala, Jessie James) and I don't poke my head up to far above the windshield, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I have these on my 2000 Heritage too - they do work well cutting down the buffeting, especially since I'm tall. However, I did notice that when riding without the windshield the deflectors cause an altogether different (and uncomfortable) buffeting. I tended to leave my shield on more than normal because of that.

I think a layman's explanation is that most head buffeting actually comes from below the shield. Riding with no shield lets you feel the full force of the wind and negates most of the effect of the flow of wind up over your knees. The deflectors used in conjunction with a shield sends more air up and over. That's probably why you get the weird and troubling buffeting when using the deflectors with NO shield - the straight on wind is disrupted. Then again, I may be all wet.
