engine temp warning ?

The above info is what I used to set my Dakota Digital parameters on my Sportster, although, with the 1250 kit, it took about 20 minutes for the temps to exceed the limit and they hovered around or above the limit all the time. The bike ran great and never complained. I was obsessed with the high temps for a while, but then decided to just see what happened. Nothing ever went wrong, so I switched screens and didn't look at it anymore. The Sportster picks up temps in the top center of the rear head. My bike stayed in the 410-430F range. The Dakota gauge had a default of 417F for the warning. Haven't looked into the Twin Cam numbers. I'm not sure I want to know.

Just a note. The sportster did not have a temperature warning light. It had only a check engine light that was nothing more than a oil sending unit (activated when pressures dropped below a certain amount.) The only thing the check engine light on a sportster will do is tell you that your level is low enough to reduce pressure, or your pump failed completely.

It's close if not the same number. Those shots are from the owners manual of the tuner.

Just be interesting to see what they are on the 103 how different they are to the sportster.
If anyone can advise would be greatly appreciated.
Just trying to workout what's hot and what's not getting concerned about with cylinder temps sitting in traffic on external hot days

About halfway down this touring bike owner's manual is a section on the EITMS.

The ETMS is there for rider comfort though I personally think it's nice to have to cool the rear cylinder.
On my bike the ETMS activates when the front head temp reaches 290f, it only comes on when the bike is standing still, once you start moving it switches off.
I have a Power Vision tuner so I can set all sorts of gauges on the display, like you I was concerned with the engine temps so I monitored them during the summer.
Now the tuner sits in my saddle bag, I don't need the distraction.
