88 FXRS issue
I hope this is the right area to post this. This is for my 88 FXRS. A couple of weeks ago, I fired it up to let it warm up and circulate the fluids. After about a minute, it dropped a cylinder. I checked the normal stuff first, ask to no avail. After pulling the front rocker cover off, I found the culprit. The front bolt for the valve train came out, and was now wedged in such a position that it had the exhaust valve wide open. Obviously, it only took a second for it and the piston to become close friends. After tear down, the only problem I could find, was a bent valve. New gaskets and a valve, easy fix. Everything went fine, until I started to put the rockers, and the rocker shafts, back in. The push rods must have grown a little bit! I have to partially compress the valve springs to put the rocker shafts in. I checked to ensure that I didn't inadvertently switch the pushrods, they are in the correct position. I replaced the head gasket with the appropriate thickness as well. I'm at a loss right now. Any ideas about what I have going in here?
