to buy or not.... mostly just me, but wife wants to ride too and in a group of friends... I have never ridden a springer.... or a softtail for that matter.

Oh god yes get it. I had a crossbones, and loved riding a springer.....love these bikes...make sure to change the exhaust though! How much are they asking, what year and how many miles?
In one word, yes. I have an 05 Springer that I have customized and it has almost 50,000 miles on it and I wouldn't trade it for any other bike. Actually, if that Springer in your pic was at my local dealer, I would buy it also.

That there is a 2001-2003 Heritage Springer [HS] (note, lack of fringe on the bags and the chrome forks). From the looks of it, it already has an aftermarket exhaust system and a few choice accessories. Add the whitewalls back and she would be just about perfect.
Oh, and don't believe anyone who tells you springer front ends "don't handle well" or "are heavy at slow speeds" or "have bad manners on the highway." These types of comments are myth usually written by someone who has never ridden or owned a Heritage Springer. Let me tell you, my HS is the best handling Softail I have ever ridden, and I have ridden quite a few. These front ends are magic.
Let me know some more of the details and I'd be happy to share my experience. I'm sure the other HS guys would do the same. That price is fair, especially for a dealer - make sure the warranty is a good one. It can be very valuable if they are a reputable place.

I have been allover the place bike speaking... I have allways had choppers, hardtails and the like... for the last 25 years. Never had a bagger. well, sold my last bike, a Suzuki 1400. new wife hated it... and I am getting older. so.... a bagger for some two-up ridding. but it'll be mostly me going back and forth to work.
