tire pressure and oil

I've attached a parts schematic of your oil tank and lines. Your drain plug is item #30. The line runs down along side the frame behind your oil tank. I believe your tire pressure is 40-42 psi. Should take 3 quarts of 20w-50. It'll depend on your location weather-wise according to the manual.

You may want to check out your owners manual. The information you seek is in there...

For Motor OIL, read in here. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...your-bike.html
For Primary OIL, read in here. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...ur-choice.html
For Tranny OIL, read in here. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...o-you-use.html
There is no BEST..only what U like and whats easy to get. then the right price.
Each of the three OIL threads does have a survey in them that shows whats most popular.
After using several oils over the yrs, I prefer and use MOBIL 1 V-Twin 20-50 in motor and primary, and MOBIL 1 GL 75-90 in tranny. But thats just me.

Proper tire pressure should be on the side of the tires.
With filter change, mine takes about 3 1/2 quarts of oil. That's what it's supposed to take according to the service manual. Best to ride it (not just let it idle) for at least 20-30 minutes (to scavenge the sump) right before you drain the oil.

Usually that is the MAX tire pressure NOT the what's recommended pressure...

On my bike if U put in 3 1/2 quarts U'll be blowing oil all over the place.
HERES WHAT I'd DO, IF I WAS U.....
On Ur first change put in 4-5 oz in the filter so she don't take as long to build up OP... the add about 2 1/2 quarts in the tank, then start her up for a few mins and then let her sat about 5, then check Ur stick and only fill to around the 1/2 way between low and full,, so U don't have blow out oil..

My point was that it might take more than 3 quarts. I was not telling anybody how much oil to put in there oil bag.
