I know there has been lots posted in the last little bit about center stands....


Does anybody know if there is a center stand for a Softail Deluxe with dual exhaust??


Any info would be appreciated.

 

I thought I've seen pictures with them mounted towards the front but I haven't looked into it to find one or figure it out. I'd like to go with a center stand eventually myself. I know they mount on the rear of the frame in normal situations.

 

Let me know if you find one that will work with a dual exhaust setup.... All the ones I've looked into, will not work.....

 

I ran a Harley center stand on my Fatboy for several years. Loved It! Easy to put the bike vertical for cleaning, maintenance, or roadside repairs. Had to remove it when I mounted Duals. The foot lever on the stand contacts the left exhaust pipe preventing it from fully retracting.

 

It seems like it would be a lot of work, but the center stand, in my opinion, could be made to work on a bike with duals if one were to crate a new foot-lever that had a "U-hook" (when in the up position) where it attached to the center stand to clear the exhaust then went out straight from there.

That "U-Hook" would allow the unit to go under the left-side exhaust when retracted and still have a place to lever against with your foot to raise the bike onto the stand. The down-side would be that the foot-lever would stick out when retracted (probably less than a passenger foot-peg, but out none the less.).

If the units were cheap enough, I would weld up a new foot-lever myself. Then it would need to be chromed.... See what I mean. Lots of work.
