Its been a couple Yrs since I've seen anyone reporting about it.

Thinking of going to the 160-80-16 on our Heritage on this change.

I know its .05 narrower and about 9/16 taller.

wondering if those who are running it think the extra money it cost is really worth it over the 401's.??

Getting 10k now on the 401's which isn't bad, but they do follow tar snakes and there really bad on ground up roads that are getting ready to repave, I've read the Elites don't.

the wife's 03 (150 is stk)
I can squeek the 140 on my 00 though. I'm afraid
the 150 might rub.

Here in "lovely" Calif, we have rain grooves on the freeways.
The 2012 RoadGlide w/E3'S I testrode tracked in the
grooves same as the Dunlop 402's on my Heritage.

 

Look into the Mich Commander II. A lot of net tech went into these!

I have a set of e3's now but am going back to metzler me880 or michelin's mentioned above when it is time. The e3's are better than stock I do like the me880's better than the e's. 880's had great traction in all climates and outstanding cornering control.

I remember several members put them on a couple yrs ago tried them and fit isn't an issue, just don't remember any reports on mileage.

U finding of groove tacking surprised me, I do remember several said their great on tar snakes and steel bridges.

Also some where saying to expect 12+ K miles on the rears??

 

I'm on my second E3 and I'm happy with them.. Decent balance between price and performance. Mileage is definitely better then the stock D407 that came on it.. Of course 240/40 tire size limits my selection.. Never had any issues with tar strips, rain grooves or bridges.. Maybe I'm just lucky

 

Yep, wouldn't kid ya.
But . . . that's the only place I rode it. Down the rain grooved freeway (about 6 mi one way), around two clover-leafs, and back to the dealership. Maybe on other odd terrain, they're better. Also, it was a windy gusty day. Some of it may have been that. While the RG might be better in side winds than other baggers (I have no doubt is is) anything with a big fairing and a tour pack is going to catch more side wind than a Heritage. But I could feel some in the tires (just like mine)
Allot to get used to. Beautiful machine, don't get me wrong . . . But apples & oranges.

 

Same here, I'm getting around 12k before they need replace 'in.

 

I'm running a 160 E3 on the rear of my '09' Heritage and like it a lot. Looks real good at 7,000 miles so far. I was only getting 7 to 8 thousand out of the 401s. I figure that if this tire comes on Gold Wings it must be a good one. Planning on matching the front soon.

 

Been reading up on the new Michelin Commander 11, there claiming up to 25k on this rear tire that just came out late 2011..

I am going to read more and may try a set of these, Price is even less than the E-3's.
