Tire Life
OK, I'm tired of changing rear tires on my 2011 Fatboy Lo. On the third on in 11k and the expense and time tics me off. The second tire did have some life left but was going on a long trip and didn't want to worry about it. First two were stock Dunlaps and the third is Metzler but it doen's look like it's gona make it any better. What's everyone using that will get 12k+? Don't want to go to a car tire but I'm about fed up with these 5k tires. Like the looks; handleing(especially on metal deck bridges I find in Canada) and the ride but give me some milage to go with it please!!!

First off stop doing burnouts!
how often are you checking tire pressure? If it is good then something is not tracking right with your bike be sure to check front tire too as it is amazing how front affects rear. I have Metzler 880's and almost 6000 miles on them with alot of tread left and they are wearing nice and even, IMO best tire out there.

I've said it before and I will say it again. Dunlop D401 200/55R/17! It's what comes stock on the Crossbones. I get over 12K out of mine so that means I change my rear tire once a year give or take a few weeks. I also take my own wheel off and just take it to the dealer and have them mount the new tire and balance it. I also order my tires from the internet which can save you around $100 per tire. It may take a little more doing but when it's all said and done, I end up spending just over half of what it would cost me to take the bike to the dealer and just have them do everything including providing the tire.

Ive got just over 10,000 on my stock dunlops and they still have quite a bit of tread left. Im thinkin I should be able to get 15,000 out of them. I have no idea why I read so many people getting less than 8,000 miles on them. I ride a lot of mtn roads too but not much 2up. Shrugs...Ive read good things about the Dunlop E3 tires, might want to see if they are available in the size you need.

Its been known in here for several Yrs the the 200 rear tires for what ever reason just doesn't last.
Lots of past threads in here and other forums reporting that the FB tire last usually 3-5k.

As said above. try the 401.
I've used the 401 on the rear since new and I average 10k on them. but its the 150-80-16 size.
I'd think Ur 200 should be able to be close to the same mileage.

I have been getting the same results out of my stock and now two sets of metzlers. I found an ad for the Michelin Comader II tires that are brand new from Michelin. They advertise that they have double the life of the Metzlers and Dunlops. I asked this question in the sheels and tires section and the only reply that I have recieved thus far is that they are so new that no one has had them long enough to verify or denay the claim. Thoughts?

I get between 8 and 10K on the stock 200 series Dunlop. (D207) On my Fatboy. I almost never do hard take offs, but I do crank on it sometimes in higher gears. I've heard that the Dunlop American Elite will give better mileage. It is available in the same size (200/55) as the stock tire. (17 inch on by 07 Fatty) The front tire is also available. Check prices at Jake Wilson. Seem to be very reasonable. I'm gonna try them next time....
