Ive got just over 10,000 on my stock dunlops and they still have quite a bit of tread left. Im thinkin I should be able to get 15,000 out of them. I have no idea why I read so many people getting less than 8,000 miles on them. I ride a lot of mtn roads too but not much 2up. Shrugs...Ive read good things about the Dunlop E3 tires, might want to see if they are available in the size you need.
I've got 16,000 on my Dunlop E3's and still 3/16" of tread left. This on a stage II Road King that gets ridden hard.
I just don't understand why some get such low mileage on tires. My stock Dunlop 407 went 10 thousand miles and I went to Avon Cobras and have 15 thousand on them and still have tread left. I use my rear brake all the time, just habit from riding bikes with only rear brakes I guess, I downshift most times but do ck the pressure everytime I ride. I run 44-45 lbs in the rear and very little 2 up riding. I use dynabeads too if that is any key to longer mileage I don't know. Freeway driveing will wear tires faster than back roads do. I think air pressure is the key to longer life. JMO
Interesting. Most of my miles are freeway miles at an average speed of 80 and still get 12k + on my stock rear 200 Dunlop. I don't do anything special beyond what the manual tells me to do which is keep the pressure correct and alignment accurate. I dont put any magic beads inside my tires, over inflate or limit myself to certain roads. I still have my original front dunlop with 32k miles and about 1/3 tread life left...
