Sweet. What did you do to get a 200mm tire on a lux. Can you take a pic of the rear?

Thoughts?
I got just over 7600 miles on the stock Dunlops. I also inquired about the new Michelin's at one of the local dealers. They didn't claim double the life, but definintely more than the stock Dunlop on the Lo's. The dealership also informed me that so far they had only put on one set of the new Michelins and hadn't gotten any feedback yet. Consequently, I don't know how much different the compounds are either or of any performance differences as well. I also didn't check the difference in speed ratings at the time.

I wonder if it could be because the Dunlop D401 has a slightly higher overall diameter and a narrower overall width.

Cool 200 mm tire

Hi, we are from Quebec Canada...my wife ride a 2010 Fat Boy Lo, the stock rear tire last 7,000km or 4,500miles to the wear bars...
the stock 200 have a V speed rating and 8/32'' tread depth
we try the Cross Bones D 401, it's better, almost 12,000km or7,000 Miles

the smaller rear tires last more because of their H speed rating and they have 10/32'' tread depth

V Rating = softer compound
H Rating = Harder compound

we have 2 things against us for long mileage: less tread to start and softer compound

i hope the new Michelin Commander 2 last a lot longer in this size

Stock Dunlops on my lo are real close to being done. I have 4400 miles. I figure it would do another 1k, but since I am riding to Daytona from Iowa in March, I just oerdered the Commander 2's. Hoping to get 8k out of them. I drive the lo pretty hard, I don't baby it by any means. No burnouts.

Don't feel bad. I get 6K if I am lucky on my Heritage, Metzlers were only marginally better. I don't do burnouts, don't downshift for braking, and heavy on the front brake. I attribute tire life to the type of roads I mostly ride--mostly chip on tar. Still looking for the 10K tire.

I know what you mean. Got tired of that really quickly. I'm running an E3 now and it looks pretty good at 7000 miles. Not sure it will make 16000 like the guy that sold it to me said but it does seem to be pretty good. Getting ready for a ride to Panama City, FL so we'll see.

I dunno? I thought the Fatboy Lo also ran a 200mm wide tire which is what my rear Crossbones tire is. Thing is, I am getting 12k out of my rear Dunlop D401's but I could probably get more. So far I have yet to wear one down to the wear indicators that are supposed to tell you to change it. I have just changed it when I have because the timing has been convenient for other factors such as new brake pads and such. I bet that if I tried running one to the wear marks I would get closer to 13.5K miles.

I got 8500 out of my stock dunlop tire.. i put a metzeler tire on and it seems to be on par with the dunlop, but no crazy *** scalloping on the tread. i run a mix of slab and country roads, concrete, asphalt and tar and chip, which is worn down to the point of almost like it used to be.. smooth asphalt. air pressures are critical, i'm running 44 in the rear and still have the original dunlop up frt. i figure i'll replace both this yr.. will most likely try the new michelin. if i cant get 10-12k out of that i'll probably go to the darkside.

According to the Dunlop Motorcycle Website they are both 200mm; however, the D407R is slightly wider. I could have probably got a little more than 7,600 out of my tires if I went all the way down to the wear indicators, but I felt it "slide" and prefer to be stuck to the road rather than try to save a few extra dollars.
