$1,800 total
-$750 pipes
__________
$1,050 labor to :uninstall old pipes, install new pipes, tune your EFI, chop, prep, paint, install new fender...

A bit high but not a ripoff IMO.

I don't know on this one. You basically paid a grand to have pipes installed and a fender fully customized, painted and installed. In the big scheme, thats not that bad. I'm telling you right now, theres a hell of a lot of work that goes into widening a fender, then prepping and painting it. Then installing it, and all the wiring as well. I don't think you did too bad.

What can you do about it? You didn't get a quote. Pay it and take it has a lesson learned.

Now can you live with paint? If so bring it and maybe they'll knock some money off

No efi tuning done. I got a cobra. It came on the bike when I bought it. I just have to adjust the pots to the new pipes. All they did was take off the old pipes, put new ones on , & do the fender.

Custom work is expensive and hard to estimate also can be time consuming

Most of that labor probably came with the fender, not installing the pipes.. is $1800 for everything high? If it includes the $750 for the pipes, then no, it's about average.. i mean.. $1800-$750 = $1050.. so you're basically looking at $1050 for a paint job on a fender (which near me would run about $300 alone, so we'll call it $300 for ***** and grins).. so $1050-$300 = $750.. so $750 to chop, widen, weld, sand, and prep for paint a fender..call that $200 which probably is low.. so $550 in labor.. $550/16 = $34/hour for labor.. its about right

+1 I agree it sounds pricey but to cut down a fender and widen it and make it look seamless plus all the rest....... not too terrible.

I don't know what you think you can fight? The only thing you can truly dispute is the paint not matching. You can ask for an itemized detail of labor charges but how can you dispute/fight it if you authorized the work without an estimate.

Let me get this right, you expected to get the pipe installation and fender customized and painted for a total $450 to $600 labor? You can't be serious?

Sorry, I just went back and read this post, but you seriously expected all that done for not more than $550??
