Default Deja Vu or Radium 250 Wide Tire Kit

2 years ago I went from a 130 to a 200 tire....and nobody noticed. My bike gets lost in a sea of 200 Softails...so now I am going bigger. I ordered a Radium wide tire kit, that is made for 91-06 to put on my 84. I started mocking it up this weekend and all is going good. The kit says it uses a 240 Metzeler or a 250 Avon ...I have a 250 Dunlop...and it is too wide. I will have to offset the trans/primary another .250 inch to make it work...no problem. I am going to add to this post over the next couple of weeks showing how to get everything lined up...which the instructions really don't cover in detail.

If you buy the radium kit, do yourself a favor and stick with a 240 tire...it is really tight with a 250. Slowly making process...I have the wheel spacing sorted out...have to carry one spacer to work to cut on the lathe...next time I pull the wheel I will get pictures on how to space it. Started mocking up the fender...most people want to get the fender rear low like they see in mags on rigid framed bikes...just can't do that with strut mounted fenders...especially if you ever want to put a 2 up seat on it. With the shocks off,use a jack and put the swingarm up against the bumpstops...put the fender and seat on and position the fender where it looks good and fits the seat...may have to compromise a little. Once you think you like it...clamp or tape it position and lower the swingarm to normal height...and see if you still like it. Spend a lot of time with this before drill any holes...back to work.
