Default Drilling baffles out on Blackline pipes

Next question from the newb....and there will be many more..lol

This has likely been asked a million times and I have seen a few comments regarding it, but nothing on the new Blacklines. Has anyone removed the baffles from their Blackline or newer Softail exhaust? Results?

Will it still run smooth if it has the stock Air breather? There have been no other mods on it......other than doing the VHT exhaust paint this weekend...thanks for the advice!

I'm not sure what's in the new FXS as far as a cat goes, but if the 2010 Streetglide is an indication, it is huge. The cat I saw is long and all but occludes the entire head of the pipe, so even dislodging a baffle is probably not the most advantageous route. I'd just replace the exhaust.

My . 02 = don't do it! It always sounds like crap. Get you some slip-ons at least. Or a complete system if your wallet allows.

The mufflers have a small cat in each one, they can be cut off, and bigger holes drilled in the baffles, then riveted back into the muffler shell... was a little throatier and seemed to run OK without additional tuning...I have a full exhaust, now BTY

it depends on your skills and fabrication tools. If you look at the fulsac site it shows a tutorial on gutting the cat and modifying the stock mufflers. I did it on my softail, w/ a 2-1 off a 2011 road glide, modified the mufflers with other parts I had, and some exhaust pipe from the auto parts store. Anything can be done if you desire, I wouldnt completely cut out the baffles you can just makee them less intrusive.

Just go to Bikergarage101 and get you a set of the $99.00 Rush slip ons (the Crossbones mufflers will fit) and save yourself the headaches.

Okay.... I really have a looootttt to learn. I've been looking at the dealership and other websites seeing looking at slip ons for around the $450 mark. I just don't have that kind of cash. Thanks for putting me onto BikerGarage101 NocturnalNature....now I just have to see if they ship to Canada.

Thanks to the rest of you for the advise as well. I know I can learn a lot hanging around here.

They will ship to Canada using USPS. Should make the shipping cost relatively reasonable too.
Good luck with your new ride and welcome to the forums!!

+1 one one Bikers Garage. Great people to deal with. Their shipping and prices are great. Here is a link to their exhaust page.

Rush slip-ons from BikersGarage101 looks like a great deal. H-D dealer gave me a price over $300 on the same ones. Glad I didn't buy them.
