How about an EVO cover with the insert peeled off? I got this one for about 2 bucks. It bolts right on the the SE Stage I backing plate. Just put a couple of rubber washers between it and the filter element and maybe some stick on 1/4 weather stripping to soak up the vibes and keep the elements center from cracking. I learned this the hard way.

That looks great. I bought one and even with the thick gasket, with the K&N filter, it isn't spaced out far enough. I've been thinking about puting a spacer under the center of the cover.

They now make a plain round chrome one without the logo. It fits fine, but doesn't look near as good as yours.

Jim
Must be a difference in the size between the HD and K&N filter, as the nostalgic cover fits perfectly on my bike using the gasket..

The dimensions for the HD 29442-99D filter used with the 'Stage 1' conversion are; 5 1/2" across at the top, 6 1/2" across at the base (bottom), and 2 1/4" deep...

Can you get a chrome screw or allen bolt to replace that stock one?
If I was doing it I would get a stainless steel screw at Lowes or Home Depot and polish it up.
That way you don't have to worry about it rusting on you.

Saw the plan round cover at the dealer. I am wondering if it will accept a trim insert?

I like the old school look too...that's why I chose the classic S&S teardrop A/C. Plus it's high flow.

My last two Nostalgic covers came with a replacement chrome screw - in the package with the cover. It's a large philips head.
