Default Fatcat update

To update everyone on my issue with my new fatcat rear pipe hitting the cam cover. Leonard at D&D provided awesome customer service and sent me a new headpipe. After finally getting to ride for a bit, the new headpipe solved the problem. I am very pleased with the pipe and the level of service. Also, I wanted to thank Drew for providing outstanding service after the sale.

So the root cause of the issue was a head pipe out of spec? What did the D&D customer service person have to say about it?

Yes the headpipe was out of spec. D&D customer service said they use the same jig on all the headpipes, but he acknowledged that it was out of spec after I tried everything he told me to do (tighten front to rear and running two exhaust gaskets per cylinder) with negative results.

Sometimes variations occur even in jig welded products. Usually the pieces are laid into or onto the jig, then clamped into place, and sent to the welder/weldor for final assembly. Once the pieces are clamped down they are welded as sent. A little inattention or misfit on the part of the jig assembler and you have a bad piece. Hey, stuff happens. It sounds like D&D took good care of their customer.
