is there such a thing as "affordable billet wheels"?
i'm looking for some billet wheels for my 2000 fatboy, and all i'm finding are wheels that are around $1,000 apiece +
used to be midwest sold affordable billet wheels for around $3-400 apiece, are there any companys that sell in that price range left?
seems like having a 2000 model softail is like trying to find antique parts anymore
ok, i'm done venting

There's two types.
One is cast, like the MoCo sells.
Weak, cheaper, brittle and plain.
Then there's Forged.
Super strong, resilient on impact, can be cut on a CNC or flowjet and can be machined into many shapes and dimensions.
The forging process is basically taking molten billet aluminum and subjecting it to thousands of pounds of pressure that squeezes out air bubbles and other cavities and impurities that leave a purer, flexable and stronger alloy.
Casting is cheap to do, but leaves a piece of flawed aluminum behind.
Forging isn't cheap, and neither are the machines used to create the billet, or the machines capable of cutting out the artwork that make up the best wheels.
So, you get what you pay for.
