Default rear fender question 08 FXSTB

Hi, I'm new to the forum's but have been searching them for awhile now because every time I Google a bike question hdfourms seems to be at the top of the list haha. I'm looking at buying a rear fender for my 08 FXSTB to give it that "bobber" look. One big problem i have been running into is finding good rear fenders for a decent price for my year of bike. I've been looking for a strut less rear fender and have found a few but a lot of times that "fitment" states that it is for 00-05. Now the fenders are 9- 9 1/2" wide for a 200 series tire which my bike has. Is there a reason why it wouldn't work on my 08? is there a major difference in the rear end from an 05 to an 08? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jamie

Big difference in the FXST/B/C. 00-05 fenders are for a 150 rear tire and 06-up are for a 200 tire. A rear fender from an 06-up Fat Boy will work if you want to cut it.

Ok but the frame should be pretty much the same? The fender says its for a 200 series tire. You think it would work with my 08 since it is also a 200?

Your looking for a fender to fit the 200 tire. If i remember right i think a 9" fender, I could be wrong though.

what fender is it? I dont think harley had a tire in 05 that was 200m, i believe it started in 06. You could always ask the fellas in the night train pictures thread. Those guys are very knowledgable about the trains.

Roland Sands seems to offer the best set-up for the price for a bobber-style rear fender for a 200 tire softail. If any manufacter or anyone would come up with an affordable, bolt on, or simple weld on for this style of bike, they would make tons of $$$. This seems to be a constant subject on here. Alot of options, but those dreaded "fitment" issues.
Some of us dont have the 2k to dump on such a mod that one company wants to charge.

Russ Wernimont makes a 9" fender for an 00-05 FXSTB 200 series tire. It is a strutless fender a bit pricey but its sort of what im looking for. My confusion comes from if Nightrain's only had 150 rear's in 05 then this fender must be for a converted rear end? If thats the case then it should line up with an 06 and up should it not?

my guess is that it doesnt fit because it says 00 - 05..... otherwise they would say it fits all fxstbi. call that company and ask them. otherwise you can look for a fender and weld some bungs up to the swing arm and throw a springed seat on it.

That fender is for people putting a 200 tire on a 00-05...will not bolt up to an 06 up...the bolt spacing is different. I just did a quick search and could not find a strutless fender for 06 up...except for the Rocker
