I think those Clean Bar Apes are a trade mark of your bike Rob.With that being said if you are not comfortable you gotta change em.

I am in the same boat as you bro.I've been thinking about some new bars as well.Bad left shoulder. Two surgeries on it (2008,2009).It"s not terrible but it does get sore after a while, and thats with taking a couple advils before each ride.

Same problem as you.I love the look of my apes(dont really want to change) but don't know how much longer I can deal with them.I was thinking of going shorter. But any thing smaller than 14" is kind of like putting lipstick on a pig for our style of bikes IMHO.I am not really a beach bar guy ether. But to keep the So Cal.,Vicia,Gangster look. It seems those are the only two options around Apes or Beach Bars.

I want to do 1.5 bars this time around as well.1.5 " Beach bars are not easy to find. The only option I have found that I like are the BR batwing beach bars by BR Custom Bars. I will just have them set up for a softail to my specs.Hoping Bill can make them with the internal throttle and holes drilled for the brake lines as well. They have nice smooth fluid bends and are 1.5" dia.

I can not make my own so I am leaning in that direction. You on the other hand have some talent brotha.I have seen your work and those VRod bars in person.I have no doubt what ever you come up with will look great and take nothing away from your sled. Good Luck with the new project bro.

The website says 275.00 for 1.5" raw bars + 200.00 for the show chrome finish.Or 90.00 to powder coat plus shipping.Pretty pricey but I'm still not convinced I want to do it.

Wow. I might be the only guy left with apes. Mine are not going anywhere. I was gonna say that you weight could play a role in circulation as well. If you are a bit heavy circulation is never as good as if you are proper weight but seeing as you are a fireman, i doubt you are heavy. I guess I'm just a lucky guy as I love my apes and they do not cause any discomfort.

1.5's BB's would look great also. Going to the other extreme with short bars can create a new set of neck and shoulder pain though. Sounds like looks over ride's function/comfort - as it should be! lol
