2000 Heritage Softail tires
Quick question , I just bought a second bike and looking at alot of threads on here they say I can put a bigger tire on the rear rim then a recomended
Front Tire:
MT/90B16 72H
Rear Tire:
MT/90B16 74H
The rear tire looks way to small on the bike, what is the bigest tire I can put on the rear ? I believe its a 3" wide rim.
Sorry if this is a question asked 1000 times just want to hit the store today to replace the rubber.
Thanks, Mike

My 00 came with a 130 rear tire. It has a narrower belt than
a 99.
I run a 140 on the rear, but it's close. Rear fenders got 1/2
wider in 03. My wife's 03 has a 150 rear tire with room to
spare.
If your bike is a 2000, check those date codes on the tires.
If they're over 5 years old, throw them away, regardless
of tread left.

I replaced the original 130 rear with a 140. Belt clearance was not an issue but I did cut off the excess interior length of the saddlebag/fender bolts. At rest it looks like there is plenty of space, but surprisingly, hitting a deep dip in the road while two up can still make it touch. Really not a concern for me.
