Default 2012 Heritage Seat and Saddlebags

I purchased a 2012 Heritage softail a couple of months ago. Love the 103 engine. I now want to start customizing the bike to my vision of an old school bike. Right now the biggest thing bugging me is all the conchos on the saddlebags and seat. I am more of a plain, low profile type of person (used to own a street bob).

Can you guys help me with my options? I was thinking of trading out the seats for a fatboy or deluxe seat. Maybe also go detachable with the bags. I like their functionality, but can't stand the conchos. I guess more than anything, I could use help in stripping her down.

Thanks

Default A cheap alternative

I am with you on not liking the studs and conchos. I considered blacking out the studs with some sort of lacquer. In the Army, we have to either buy new "subdued" badges (rank, airborne wings etc...) as the black finish wears off or we simply paint over them. There are products specifically designed to keep metal blacked out. We called it "m-new" but, for the life of me, I can't seem to spell it right enough to find it online. Anyways, it's a thought.

The studs and conchos are cool, and they are Old School. Also, the Heritage seat is extremely comfortable. You just bought a brand new Heritage and now you want to turn it into a Deluxe?

I guess what I'm really looking for is to make a stripped down version of the Heritage Softail like I've seen in the pics section. However I would want the option of being able to put back on the saddle bags, etc without having to bolt them back on. Quick conversion in case I have to ride long distances.

I'm new to this softail world and some direction as to how others make that happen would be nice.

This is why I went with the Deluxe. I preferred the '40's look to the '50's. It wasn't cheap to do but it works for me. Of course now I don't mind the spots and conchos one bit. Go figure. . .

New seat is easy enough, look on eBay for a used deluxe seat

I did not care for the chrome studs so I changed by seat and bags. I purchased a mustang seat and had them put the black studs. Then I went to HogDeluxe and purchased a set of the springer style bags and he added the black studs.
Here a few pics:
