Great ideas coming. Thanks for the help.

I should specify that I'm looking for quick detach rather than having to find a socket and open ended wrenches all the time to put the saddle bags back on. Plus when I take them off, I have some nasty looking studs sticking out.

I went with the Deluxe seat myself. Not easy to find a used one, but I lucked out on ebay. I like the look a lot better. Pulled the saddlebags off, but they go right back on in just a couple minutes, so no need for quick release brackets for me.

Totally agree with you that the Heritage look is great. Bought a 2012 Heritage 4 weeks ago (have yet to ride it - it is cold in Minnesota). I like the old school look and the bags are part of it. That being said - do your bike how you like - and let others do it the way they want.

There are only about 3 bolts holding those saddle bags on each side not that long to take off hd make some new magnetick covers to go over detachable point for backrest and saddle bags they may or may not work on your bike without detachable hardware mounted to your struts it is worth a look those ez brackets and the like make the bags stick out to far from your fender and look ugly not my taste

I got rid of the studs as well... went to a C&C solo seat and a C&C sport touring for when the wife rides.

Went to hard bags instead of the leather bags. Going to extended bags here in the near future.

As far as the seat goes, there are probably only about 4-500 options. Just start research them. Ask your dealer if they demo seats. Mine does. They will let you use a seat for a week to see if you like it.

Yeah,, I too think that spots and fringe and all that leather looks Bad.
Don't know why anyone would want it on a bike.
Think I've even added a few more..

The whole idea is to make Ur bike Ur own. And I know not many younger riders remembers today what bikes looked like back in the 50's. But I do. and thats what I like.. Except curb feelers and raccoon tails, there I draw the line.

U might not get into too big of a hurry, they may grow on U.???

..

U can also change out the chrome spots with several different kinds of others.
