Its a friction lock that grips the throttle, just hard enough to hold its position but allows you to twist it up of down. It just slips over the end of the throttle. It rests against the brake lever. Very clever.

This turned into a very informative thread with a lot of "cruise" options. I too am going to need one of these units.

You got that right, for my 07 Heritage, it's $1,048.59, I guess they can KEEP IT!

I went with the Cruise-Mate. It works as advertised and is cost effective. As already stated you may have to adjust the throttle on incline or decline but for the money it has more than paid for itself in my opinion. If you have any hand, shoulder, etc. issues this handy little device will give them a rest. I just push the lever forward with my thumb to engage and push back with my index finger to release. It doesn't take long to figure out how mush pressure is needed on the lever so it will hold the throttle and also be able to make slight adjustments when needed. One of the best mods I've made for comfort!

Lots of good options here for manual cruise controls. The throttle boss types just bug the heck out of me.

I am also considering the kuryakyn magnetic cruise. The thing i like about it is with any touch of either the brake, clutch levers it disengages. Where with the manual locks you have to consciously disengage them. Which is fine if you don't have to do it in a hurry.
My biggest complaint with the kuryakyn setup is you are stuck with their choice of grips.

I'm a throttle rocker guy too. Been using varying brands for years. People always look at it and ask questions. I could not imagine riding without one.
