Default 2012 Heritage STC front end wobble

Got a new 2012 HSTC in November. Have about 500 miles on it so far. Since the beggining, I have noticed a wobble when I am coming to stop. A very slow and deliberate wobble. The other day I was on a 4 lane doing 65-70 mph and I started to slow (no brake applied) and the bike started the wobble again. Very unnerving to say the least. The wobble always occurs when I am decelerating with no brake.

I checked my tire pressure and it is right on the 40 lbs make front and rear. I see balancing weights on the front and rear tires.

I am going to take it to the shop soon.

Any ideas on what it could be?

You obviously have a problem. It's under warranty so take it back to a dealer and have them check it out. Might be something simple such as a re-balance. Worse could be bent spokes or a damaged rim out of round. Won't affect you as they should fix it with no questions.

My 2008 Crossbones developed something VERY similar to what you are describing at around 15K miles. It turned out to be something wrong with the neck bearings. They did say that my front wheel was a out of round but that they didn't thing that it was enough to contribute to the problem and felt that the neck bearings were the offender. Warranty covered the replacement of the bearings and the truing of my front wheel and I have not had any I have since put another 16K miles on my scoot without so much as a jitter.

Your steering head bearing sound like they are loose.

First I'd for sure take her back in.

Two things they might check 1st would be neck bearings and Spokes, If not one of them then tires. axle bolts, rotor, wheel bearings.

I bought a used '02 Heritage about two yeas ago. The guy I bought it from had the same problem. I got such a smokin' deal that I bought it any way. I rode it home and sure enough, it had a deceleration wobble. The first thing I thought of was that it had to be the neck bearing adjustment. It took about ten minute to adjust and I have never felt it since.

+1 on the the neck bearing adjustment, not hard to do - TELL THE DEALER TO DO IT.

My 12 Heritage did the same thing at 800 miles repaired under warranty. Problem was found to be loose spokes in the back wheel. Makes me think someone at the factory needs to be reminded that their little screw up could kill somebody.

Your next drive should be right to the dealer, or have them pick it up. They should be able to tell pretty quick if it's the neck bearing, and you should be back on the road in no time. Not unusual for any bike to have a few bugs to work out, just be sure to get it taken care of right away.
