Not necessarily more but, a special construction bike has no book value(NADA etc) so a lot of company's will not insure it period...that limits your choices...second with no book value, if it is totaled or stolen...they can pay you anything they want, and you have no legal recourse...so you have to have it appraised and then get insurance for an agreed value...which will be more costly.

Also, another thing to think about is it is a "buyers" market and half the countries riding season is over. I say take your time and don't be rushed into anything you have doubts about.
If the paint job is as bad as you desribe I would question how well the rest of the bike is taken care of? I can't stand cleaning the kitchen but I can clean my bike and garage everyday! Buy a bike from someone who cares about their ride.

too many people giving cleaner things away right now...
I would probably take 7500 for my 05 electraglide.
all the upgrades full history clean numbers miles of receipts original factory paint etc.
keep your eyes open
do not buy a special construction bike or one that the numbers do not match.
wrong motor will work fine regardless what anyone says..
trying to explain that to the next guy or the cops if they happen to get up you *** about it, is a different story.
1 harley title
2 motor numbers match
3 early twin cams that have not had the cam tensioners upgraded,
will need another large check to bring them up to snuff.
a lot of them have already been fixed. make sure.
4 no lien holder on the pink slip
5 no "salvage"
6 look for any cracks in the paint on the frame. motorcycle frame paint doesn't flex much.
if there is a crack in the paint, look for bends in the frame.
I always assume if there are cracks in the paint, the frame is/was bent. I always walk away unless it all adds up in parts.
