8 hours smells a little like fish to me. If your getting cables and brake lines from the dealer $290 could be close, but I sent a total of about 3 hours doing mine and that included cutting and extending the control wiring. I would be looking at another shop. MHO

It took me around 3 or 4 hours for my beach bars...which included the internal wiring and cables

If you keep him honest like that by telling him, "Nah, Ill do it at the dealership this time. Its cheaper." He will probably work a little harder for your business in the future by not getting so laxxed on his asking prices towards you. my $.02

I called my local dealer who quoted 3.5 hrs labor. I can deal with that. Disappointed in my indy who is usually the better of the 2.

That's my Plan A. With the tank off, it sure would take the least amount of time to be done there. With the feedback I received from this thread, I might just do it myself (with a friend).

BTW ZJAvy, change your Weatherundeground signature. No one here on the east coast wants to be reminded daily how friggin cold it is here.

I was in NY this morning, seemed to finally be getting a little colder there to me. I was in Boston last week and it was warmer there then here in SoCal if you can believe that. Did I mention my wife and FmrRacer is pissed at me right now because our heater is broken, LOL.
