Think, it doesn't take all that much to upright our bikes from the stand.

I've never put a set of scales under the stand, but it'd tell ya close what is actually the amount. Of course U'd need to put some 2x4 or something to raise the bike the same thickness as the scales to get a true reading.

Still, the stand failed, which means someone sure missed the boat when designing it and I'd not want another one of them.

.
Try lifting your bike from the attachment point of the kicksand and tell me how heavy it feels. Ever sit on your bike with the stand down? Even more weight on the stand. The reason it feels light when you lift it off the stand is because you have leverage.

Over the years I've made custom parts for my bikes and my wife's bikes using SnapOn wrenches and tools. Talk about tough. One of the shifters I made has been on several of my bikes. In most cases I have the parts sent for Heat treating and re-chrome, but so far none of them have failed.

A littlle update.

I did receive a full refund.
Really didn't like the way it went down but did get my loot back.

When I ordered the stand, I had to wait longer then what was said.
It actually got to the point of waiting. I sent an e-mail to cancel my order.
The owner was very sorry for the delay. He informed me that he would move me to the front of the line for production.
He even sent a eagle head gas cap as a present for the delay.

When I sent the broken stand in I had already e-mailed and called them about the problem.

I was told once it arrived it would be taken care of.
Well it arrived and I was e-mailed to ask what I wanted to do? Replace or refund.
My frist thought was how many of these are coming back broken. I had already been in touch several times about a refund.
I was told since I did not include a note, They were not sure what I wanted.
Well I wasn't about to trust my investment with a badly made stand.

At this point I realized I was dealing with the owners wife.

When I told her I wanted a refund. Her response turned cold.
I was informed that I had received a gas cap as part of my order. And if I was going to return it to to receive my refund.

This showed me the type of people that run this company.
Never once was it mentioned or explained why their product failed.
No sorry our $270 hunk of crap almost cost you five times as much in repairs.
She was more concerned about getting back the cap.

To the owner's credit, I did receive the refund without returning the cap.
It is packaged and ready to be dropped off at the post office.
I'm not going to trust the cap. Seems this company needs to do alittle more R & D with their products.

I do believe the problem is in the manufacture of the stand.
It is supposed to be stainless. It was very heavy.

I know nothing about casting metal but it seems to me that the casting was not done very well.

My personal opinion for what its worth. It looks like someone took off with the kickstand down, and it hit to crack it that bad.

That thought crossed my mind also.
I would have rather it bent then crack like it did.

When you looked close at it, you can see where the two sections weren't really attached together. The top layer of metal with the feather detail looked cracked but the underlying metal looked weird. Almost like the metal cooled before the whole section was poured.
The top layer was shiny and jagged like a normal break. While the bottom had a dull smooth look to it.
Almost like the pouring of the metal was not consistant and the two section of the break were poured cold and the metal didn't bind well.

Judging from the second pic, it looks like it had been cracked for awhile.

Very lucky the mechanic was on his toes!
Have faith in your factory kick stand.... some idiot backed into the front of my bike this past summer, hit the front end and pushed it back 2 feet. Kick stand held the bike up while the whole front end was damaged. Replaced stand after that fiasco.

Just as well. I gotta say that 'chicken foot' stand is the ugliest thing I've ever seen.

I actually wanted one of those for the one I'm building. But I thought it was solid not hollow. Real glad I saw this topic.

Looks like the stand was made pretty hollow.
