I too, found the DEI straps insufficient and went with common stainless hose clamps. Also, the black color wrap is actually gray. I understand the silicon spray paint works on the non-titanium versions.

Ive also heard that wrapping your pipes can cause them to crack from high heat?

Yes mine exploded on me after about 10 k on them...if it was me the money on heat shields would be well worth it...that being said I do like the wrapped looked..maybe ehen I get a bar hopper I will go back but not for a bike I plan to ride a bunch

Thats probably what ill do id hate to ruin a set of pipes just for a look i was going for.

I've had my stock exhaust wrapped with LAVA wrap for about 6000 miles now. Still looks good. Wrapped dry and didn't paint although it has a olive drab look to it since it was new. Still shopping for an exhaust system and will probably wrap it also.
