Default Windshield or fairing?

I have a 2006 fatboy currently has memphis shades quick release windshield and boom audio speakers. I was looking into selling it for a fairing with a stereo but didnt know if the fairing was that much better. Anyone switch from one to the other?

On my Fatboy I had MS Batwing fairing and 2 different MS Windshields , I used to swap out depending on the ride and weather. Had the best of both.

Hog tunes makes a speaker and stereo kit for the MS fairing now.

I went to a fairing on my Night Train. Love it.
No more buffeting, got my tunes, glove boxes,
and twice the light at night.

Depends on your riding style. I put a MS Batwing on my softail and love it. Nice to put it on in cooler temps and high winds: nice to have it off when warm and shorter rides. Started out with the 9" and went to a 12" windshield with the pouches: easy change.

I put a woodys fairing on my 06 fatboy. I ran with a windshield for a couple of years. Swore I would keep the shield but ended up selling it. I found that the fairing provides better cold/rain weather protection. For the over night trips I go no fairing but anything longer or if the wife is with I put the fairing on. Goes on and off just as easy as the shield did.

Well sounds like a fairing is the way to go. Now if I could just sell my shield and boom audio.
