Keep searching like others have said. I got my 97 for 6800 and around Atlanta some are going cheaper than that. If you get a something from the 80's then Tom is your man to talk to!!

I know you are in TX but there are all kinds of deals here in Atlanta. Something to think about.

Thanks. I'm going to try and sell a few old parts and add to my pile.

Good luck to you man. You will love the EVO. When you get one be sure to check out the EVO section here. Lots of good advice both here and there.

Here is an example. This actually makes me jealous. Just don't know what the deal is with the frame or if it kept the HD numbers

I bought my 99 Softail Custom in Yantis Texas 3 years ago for $7,100. It had 17,000 miles on it, and looked like new. Had about $6,000 dollars worth of mostly chrome additions. I have 32,000 on it now, and have had to do nothing to it, outside of changing the cam brg. which was still good. Just did not want trouble later on. Otherwise it runs superbly and I love it. I think they have come down since I bought mine, so you should be able to get a better deal. I got mine on e-bay from a super nice guy that had 5 Harley's. I live in Kansas so had to drive to get it, but well worth the trip.

I'm looking on ebay. Seems all the really good deals were when I didn't have the cash.

Might want to check out Cycle Trader too, they're a pretty good source as well: http://www.cycletrader.com/
