Question Fatboy Mufflers that accomodate saddlebags

I am looking to replace stock mufflers on my 09 FLSTF with mufflers that would accomodate saddlebags large enough to be able to pack for traveling. Would prefer a hard removable bag system if available. Would appreciate any suggestions for mufflers and saddle3bag system. Thanks

Samson True duals fit the bill well as does a D&D fatcat.

If you want large saddlebags you will need to replace the exhaust system. Just replacing the mufflers with slip-on's won't get you any more clearance. I've got the exhaust from an FXST (staggered duals) on my FLSTF at the moment, for the lower mufflers. I wanted the exhaust to run under the passenger peg rather than over it.

The above answer is correct as well. Another option is Vance and hines Big shot longs or staggereds. You will have far more options for bags with a full system that lowers the entire system.

Default Custom Bags

In research for leather bags on for my 08 FB I checked with the custom bag company (Iron Bags) about the exhaust I was choosin. Reinhart 2:1. It was helpful info. Since they don't make rear skid bars for that model, a buddy with a metal shop custom made stainless steel ones.

On the 98 FB I gots staggered duals with some cheap bags and made the store bought skid bars fit myself!
That's what I did.
