Default A couple of Heritage questions

I'm looking forward to starting the mods on my new-to-me Heritage, and have a couple of questions.

Can I install 4" pullback risers on the stock bars without going to new cables?

How hard are rear axle covers to install/take off? I see they can't be used with saddle bags, and there might be a time when I want to throw my saddlebags back on for a ride.

Depends on what you have verses what you are installing. If you have stoick bars and cables you have very little slack in the cables. Lets say you have 8" bars with a 1" riser, with a 4" riser you would have to go with a shorter bar or longer cables The pullback and the width of the bars also make a difference. I am sure there are board sponsors here that sell cables that can take your numbers and tell you exactly what length cvables you need. If you want to, call Hill Country Customs in Austi Tx, ask for Brian and he will help you in the right direction. And if your budget allows, go with 1.25" bars with internal wiring, and braided cables......you'll be glad you did.

I was told that I could install the 4" pullback risers without changing cables, maybe rerouting one. I will be watching this post for someone that knows as well. Winter project!

I installed those risers on my Heritage, before I eventually went to 16" apes. No cable change or reroute was necessary. I did remove one brake line clamp though.
I also run axle covers, and take my bags on and off all the time.
Here's a pic with the risers on...

At 62, I am tired and old.. While sat in my ways.. Why dick with the bars?? U didn't say!!!

The stock Heritage bars are the most comfortable bars I've ever had on any of the 14 bikes I've owned..

I am 6'2'', so unless U want ape's ?????

IF U'r shorter and need to bring them back a little then by all means go for it.

4'' risers are only 1'' higher but pending on pull back, the stock cables may rub tank and ????

U can buy a seat the pushes U more than that forwards... with out changing risers.
Might be cheaper than changing them out and even more so if U have to do cables.

Can't answer the cover ?? as I like the bike with bags on alllll the time....

First, Octo1949, must be time for a happy birthday.

Second, as another old buy I suggest Chubby RK bars, for me 10 times more comfortable than stock mini-apes.
