Default Special tool needed for oil lines?

So I was reading the hd manual in preparation of swapping out my chrome oil tank for a black one.
It says I need a special tool to remove the oil lines from the tank? God forbid Harley uses a nut!
So my question is- do I really need this tool or is there another way to do this swap. Is there a super ghetto way to pull them out with no tool? I got the new o-rings thinking that would be all I needed.

You can also get the tool at any of the auto parts stores around such as Pep Boys, Auto-Zone, VIP etc. I think they market them as "quick release connector" tool sets for around $10.00. Good luck with the project.

You don't actually need any tools. Since you're going to need the clips in your new tank just pull back the chrome covers (twist and pull at the same time), then using your thumb and index finger pinch the dark brown plastic arms and slide the oil line AND the plastic clips out of the tank. Remember to replace the O-rings AND the spacer in the new tank. Snap them into place and you're done!

The oil tank does not have line nuts on it only automotive style push locks. I think that is what the OP is referring to.

Not sure if this is what nikonf8 is referring to, but I picked these up recently. Cost $10. Same ones sold by Sears.

I got some of those lislie plastic ones today. One of the lines came out without using it, the other won't come out either way. I need to play with it more. The plastic tools suck.
