Nice bike. Looks like a clean canvas to start your creation. Your right, Chaz' bike is (was) bad as hell.

Bobber... pardon the amateur question, but how much work is involved in painting the cylinders? Did you tear the whole thing down and paint them with high temp spray or what??

It looks terrific! I assume it was base aluminium silver before?

Yes it was silver before, I did not think it was that hard. I did it in the bike, I took the pipes, air cleaner, horn, and coil cover off. Then I scrubed the engine clean, taped off anything I did not want painted, I used BBQ paint and did a couple coats. All in all it took about 4 hours including dry time. Make sure u get it from all angles.

Like what you've done so far, but to me the chrome fender struts look a little out of place now. I think black would look better.

I will be blacking out more on the bike this winter. I have two full powder coat shops at my disposal. As for the painted motor the paint is heat resistant up to 1200 degrees and my dyna was done the same way (where I got my idea) and I never had a problem with that bike, plus it is a spray so i can always touch it up.

Bikes looking good, i have an '01 as well.. runs great and yes, when you extend the pegs
and sort out the seat, you can ride all day.

Put me on the list for any painted motor updates please, and does it
look that much different from what comes out of the factory ?
