Update!
A few weeks ago I rode down to St. Pete, about 620 miles. Soon after I was on the interstate and up to 85 miles per hour for about 30 minutes the noise stopped. And now when I start up in the morning the overall valve noise is much lower.
I have been riding to work almost every day for three weeks and the noise has not returned. The difference in the way the engine sounds when I first start it in the morning is phenomenal. What gives? Or, what gave?

Very possible carbon on top of pistons, piece breaks off and makes noise. Use pure gas with out ethynol blend if you can find it.
