WTF is this noise? Could it be a bad wheel bearing at 1500 miles!?

It could very well be your bearing!! My Rocker rear bearing fail twice, once at 6K and the second time at 65 mph at 7k miles!! The warning was the rear brake started making noises, I assumed that it was the pad and bought new pads to put in. It failed before I could get back to the garage and caused $1200.00 damage...If you have an 08 bike or newer and have the HD bearings, they seem to be failing for a lot of folks. I had all mine changed out to Timken bearings by an idept. mechanic. Less than $100.00 to do. MUCH SAFER...Do a search on this site, a bunch of info. Ride safe.

I called the dealer and they said that since I only drove it short distance, then I took it out for a little ride and it went away....I should not worry. They said if I felt anything in the brakes at all....wobble or pulsation, then bring it in. I went in to the garage this morning and tried to get it to do it again, it didn't.
....I'm done typing, gone riding!
Thanks guys!

My 2011 Deluxe did the same thing after 1000 miles or so freaked me out at first as it vibrated all the way up the front forks, went on a 500 mile ride & it was gone, then rode in the rain & it came back, finally got over stressing on it as it comes & goes.
I figure no smoke & no wobble no worries.

Just ride it, the noise is normal, if a bit strange.
Mine didn't start doing it until I replaced the stock pads for Lyndell Z pads, now it will often do it when I'm moving the bike around in the garage.
But it has absolutely no detrimental effect on the brakes operation at speed.
So while it may sound strange while your pushing the bike around its nothing to be concerned about.

I had the same problem (sound)but it did not go away. I was lucky and within a mile or two of my local dealership. My inside pad was outside the caliper and my rotator was screaming hot. They said it appears the caliper is bad and needs to be replaced. They also said they will replace the rotator since the caliper caused the problem. My bike is still under warrenty so that is good news. Now I find it funny that they say Harley may not pay for the pads. Well I only have 4400 miles on the bike and if the caliper did'nt go bad then the pads would still be good. The dealership is in agreement with me so they are going to push to get them covered.
