Default Has Anyone had problems with the Kill Switch?

I'm riding down the road the other day and suddenly everything gets quiet.
I look around a bit nothing unusual except the lack of engine noise.
Pull in the clutch thumb the starter and get a quick fire then nothing.
So I get pulled over put the bike into neutral hit the starter and nothing.
Going through the K.I.S.S. checklist I hit the kill switch to off then back to run and it fires up like nothing ever happened.

So my question is has anyone else had problems like this?

I normally just use the ignition to shut the bike off so I very seldom even touch that switch.

I did. I sprayed the switch with some electronic cleaner, turned the switch on and off several times. All is well I never use the kill switch just the ignition switch.

It's never happened to me, but I have heard of it happening to several people. Try doing the electrical cleaner thing like Sandman said. I won't hurt to try.

It happened to me once. I took mine apart, sprayed it with electronic cleaner, then stuffed it with electric grease (dilectric). So far so good, but I'm sure it started out clean from the factory stuffed with electric grease.

I came across this thread on my search for kill switch versus ignition switch. I remember reading on here that using the ignition switch only, puts ur charging system at risk. I ignored that and kept using IS only. Guess what? My regulator took a dump. Having it and the stator replaced. Ain't cheap.

Hmmm... never heard that one and I don't know anyone that uses the kill switch instead of or in addition to the ignition switch. I would have to look at a wiring diagram to see which wires were affected by each... but I would say that you use the kill switch to kill the engine but you could still activate your hazard lights, etc. Dunno... never thought about it.

i always use the kill switch to shut'r down. switches have a funny way of corroding/oxidizing if not used. by using the switch it actually keeps itself clean by the sliding of the contacts across one another.
