If you have the bike on the side stand you will lose a little oil, but not too much. If you are worried about the garage floor put something down to catch it like a drain pan.

I did what Hogpro said and just used the side stand. Lost maybe 1/2 qt

Installed, thanks for the info, was able to place newspaper underneath the stock cover and it funneled the oil to a pan.
