^ Man that was such a helpful post, thank you VERY much for posting that!

My plan for swapping fork oil next week is to open the top cap (carefully), mark the level the fork oil is at, drain the old oil, then swap in the thicker oil to the exact same mark.

Now you got me thinking I should go ahead and add 10mm to the level when I refill, as I definitely want to improve the initial dive on my bike.

Your not going to get any better advise from any of us than that from Howard. That's what he does for a living. I learned something today also.

You use a gauge like this.

You can make one as I show you how to do it for around $5. All you have to do is watch the movie and Amy will show you step by step and show you how to use it.

All of this information is available for your investment in time to view it.

Watch the movies and learn. Amy volunteered her time to enrich your life for free:

Been busy, sorry for the late reply. You measure the oil height. This method is on both of my separate movies (Buell inverted & Std HD forks). On the Buell is where I show you how to make an Oil Level tool.

move up to the next heavier fork oil, if thats not enough then move up another.

give each one some time to get used to it, I just had mine changed to a non harley brand by my INDY. It was the middle 20W. At first I thought it was too heavy, now i like it after riding about a Thousand miles with it.

I'm back...

After over 350 miles this weekend I now know I have to take care of more than dive. It feels like the forks are bottoming out and bigger bumps. It's not all the time though.

Will the solutions already provided help with this, or do I need to look at changing the springs or doing something else? I want to get a Shotgun or some other adjustable rear in the Spring depending on whether or not they'll still be able to let me keep a ride that handles decently well. I fortunate enough to live in an area with good roads locally, but I know that won't always be the case where ever I go, so I'd like to find a good suspension setup that's lower than stock, but will stilll let me maintain a degree of handling performance.
