My recommendation.......none! Bought a HD detachable when I purchased the bike, I've used it about 5 miles out of the 43,000 I've put on the bike. Not saying there weren't some big rainstorms that made me wish I had one, just don't like em. I'd rather get hit with a rock.

Memphis Shades on my Fatboy......great for those 500-600 mile days. When I'm not on a trip I take it off (trigger locks) and there is a big difference in fatigue levels at the end of the day on a long trip.

I really like my Windvest when in Touring mode. It's easy on-off, just four bolts. It covers just enough to lose the wind blast and works pretty good with rain. I look just over the top and buffeting isn't really a problem.

I have one identical to thunderbueller's that I would part with. I too think that windvest is the way to go. Let me know if you are interested.

+1 for Memphis Shades. My stock windshield was exactly at my natural eye level; very annoying to be constantly trying to look over or under that edge. MS has a wide variety of heights and styles... are cheaper than OEM options... and better quality in my opinion than H-D windshields.

+1 on the windvest, have had them on two harleys and I think they are the best. If you could pick up the used one that yandeltx has (posted back a few post) you would be more then happy with it since they are pricey brand new. WindVest.com, check it out
