Could just get a full face helmet for when you want some protection.

tried the HD detachable back when I still had the wide glide forks, hated it. I mean hated it. it's such a different/ more fun ride with no windshield. bought a full face helmet for freeway and if I EVER had to get one again I'd buy windvest.

LOL.............well stated!

+1 for the Wind Vest. I have one on my Night Train. Doing 300 to 400 miles in a day the wind vest is great.

I've had both, Memphis Shades and Windvest, both good products. I have the windvest now and love it because you can barely tell it's there, in looks, but does a great job blocking the wind while still letting you know you're on a motorcycle. Easy on/off, too.
